Mission Statement
Our goal as a junior rugby union club is to promote the sport of Rugby Union to junior members of the community and to create a family orientated club.
We encourage the entire family to participate in all our events and make a conscious effort to design all activities so that all members of our clubs families are not only invited but also want to participate.
We also have a large support base from our local community and a number of long-term and recent sponsors. Together we will raise much needed funds to help the club continue to create a fantastic environment for all our junior players and there families.
With the ongoing help of our sponsors and our wonderful support base we as a club will continue to grow into a force in the development of the game played in heaven...
Rugby Union
Code of Conduct – ZERO Tolerance.
The BJRU and the Redcliffe JRUC have a zero tolerance for spectators entering the playing enclosure while junior games in progress. Any such intrusion will lead to suspension and/or bans being implemented by the club and BJRU.
Please take the time to review the Code of Conduct (available in the Club Handbook) and remind yourself and others around you of the expected behaviour. Please remember that we are all attending junior sport. While rugby is a physical contact sport, particularly in the older age groups, it is still junior sport and adults attending these games should be setting the standards for our children to follow.
Redcliffe wants to set an example to its community and the wider Brisbane rugby community that as a Club, we share common standards of appropriate behaviour.
All parents and spectators are encouraged to support their team and also to applaud good play of your opposition.
It is also important to remember that all coaches, managers, trainers, field marshals referees and touch judges are volunteers and give their time to provide all of our children have a safe and happy environment in which to play sport. Without them, there is no junior sport, so we ask that you recognize the important role that they play.
Club History
Throughout its short history the RJRU club has played and trained at a variety of venues in Redcliffe including Filmer Park, Woody Point; Southern Cross College, Scarborough; and Redcliffe Showgrounds, Redcliffe. In 2007, the club secured a lease and associated sports field user agreement with the Council in order to base itself permanently at Ray Frawley Fields in Clontarf. The club has worked closely with Council, RRUFC, Clontarf State High School and other sport and recreation groups on the peninsula in order to improve the facilities at this site.
2009 in conjunction with the Moreton Bay Regional Council we installed new light towers taking the lighting standard on both fields up to playing standard instead of the training standard already erected.
It would be fair to say that 2009 was one of the most successful years with the club hosting a major under 12 carnival for the BJRU and having the under 13 and under 17 teams take our their respective grand finals. In 2010 we have had our Open juniors (under 17) stay together and move to the senior ranks and presently are playing for Colts in the Redcliffe Senior Rugby competition. Hopefully the first of many Redcliffe players taking the path from juniors to seniors.
2010 season saw the junior club take out another two premierships. The Under 17 team again won the mid season grand final with the under 10 team winning the premiership.
Sportsmanship and family values are at the heart of the club ethos. By undertaking appropriate planning, implementing sound systems and securing funding to improve facilities, the club will be able to continue to offer family orientated sporting opportunities to the community.
