- OFFICIAL WELCOME. Welcome to the 2012 rugby season. Even though we already have had our newsletter over the last few weeks I have only recently added all new members for 2012 so hopefully I will have everybody that has registered receiving the weekly newsletter. - NEWSLETTER EDITOR. We are on the hunt for a 2012 newsletter editor. After three seasons producing the clubs weekly newsletter I find with the new clubhouse nearly here I need to allocate more time doing other things within the club so I am asking again if someone would like to produce the weekly information and game draw/results as required. We will guide you as to what is required each week and we have no set formula other then keeping members informed on matters as required. This newsletter is a guide. I thank everybody for the last few years and I hope we have achieved keeping everybody informed week in and week out what is happening at Redcliffe Junior Rugby Union.

*Treasurer (need asap), Age Group Coordinator, Child Activity Officer (need asap), Development Officer, Newsletter Editor, Recruitment officer (need asap), RSA holders (several needed, accreditations are paid for by the club), Social Club Coordinator, Sat or Sun coordinators (need asap), Team First Aid Officers (several needed, accreditations are paid for by the club).

- CLUBROOM SUB-COMMITTEE. As we have requested over the last few weeks the RJRUC have taken some very big steps for this 2012 season and as most of you will see the new clubhouse is on track to be finished very soon. Hand over to the RJRUC is listed as the end of February, we then need to allow a few weeks to get our own stamp on it. To this end we are now inviting interested members to be part of this very exciting time in a volunteer capacity.

Stage 1 handover to the RJRUC at the end of Feb and within this first stage is a clubroom area, canteen, commercial kitchen, bar, office, storeroom and toilets.

Stage 2 is the start to the new car park. This we have been informed will be starting sometime in May 2012.

Stage 3 is the last stage and this will be the second building to include storage, showers, first aid/referee room.

We will need people to assist the running of the whole clubrooms as apposed to people that run the traditional football operations. We have had one person accept. Welcome Carin Robertson one of our under 10 parents.

We will require people with the desire to put together and formulate the clubroom ideas and to take the club to that next level.

We will need a team of people specifically for clubroom operations.

- EVENTS COMING UP

09/03/2012 Redcliffe R7. This is a one day 7 aside rugby competition and the QRU will be using this as the Northern Region selection tournament for the 2012 Ballymore Q7. This Redcliffe R7event will include age divisions for under 13, 14, 16 & 18. A full draw and conditions will be provided to schools indicating their intention. Nominations close 24/02/2012. 12/04/2012 and 13/04/2012 Redcliffe Rugby Academy. This will be a holiday education academy. Thursday 12^th of April will be for the under 6-12 ages and Friday 13^th will be for the under 13–15 ages. Both days will run between 9.00am-1.30pm. This is not organized via schools even though all local schools have been informed of the event so apply directly to the Redcliffe Junior Rugby Union Club for nominations. We will have two QLD REDS players each day as well as full involvement from QRU development squad trainers as well as some Redcliffe coaches. Registration required by 22/03/12. 24/07/2012 – 28/08/2012. Redcliffe Rugby Cup. This will be similar to the successful 2011 Cup and will be held in the third school term over a six week round robin format for under 13 (7 aside), 15 (15 aside) and 17 (15 aside0 ages with grand finals used to determine the winner. Each game will be held on a Tuesday after school between 24^th July and the 28^th August starting at 3.40pm. Medals for all grand final participants with the school awarded the perpetual Redcliffe Rugby Cup as well as a cup to keep. HELPERS NEEDED ON THIS DAY PLEASE. - HEADGEAR. As we mentioned at sign on the club is offering complimentary IRB approved headgear to all 2012 players. We will have the headgear available over the next two weeks and will be asking parents / players to sign they have received this. We kindly ask if your child is not going to wear this headgear can you kindly indicate as we can utilize in future years and request it to remain in the clubs stocks and to these players we will gladly supply a mouth guard instead also at no cost.

- MOUTH GUARDS. We will have a quantity of mouth guards available this Friday night (with more to come as required) so if anyone is interested in purchasing we will have a table set up in front of the left demountable (towards the car park entrance) We may also have other club merchandise items on sale as well at greatly reduced prices.

-PHOTOS FROM THE PAST. If anyone has team photos going back to the junior clubs start around 2003 would you be willing to donate or have us produce a copy. - CANTEEN. Due to no clubhouse we will again have limited food and drink suppliers on Friday nights so again bear with us during this early stage of the season. All players will receive a free sausage sizzle after Friday night training. All non players can purchase for $1.00 each. Drinks are also available for all players and members at $2.00 each.

- PAYING FEES. Thank you to all the parents already paying fees and the club web site list the club bank details and we also offer PAYPAL facilities for extra security. - HANDBOOK 2012. Make sure you read the new handbook for 2012. Some interesting stuff.

- RSA. We need RSA accredited helpers in the bar this year so if anyone wants to assist please email Mark Cole our Bar Manager at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The club has also made it very easy to obtain your accreditation so contact Mark for the details. All we ask in return is assistance during the year. Full club training provided.

- MEETINGS. We hold a monthly meeting each third Monday of the month. Whilst our clubhouse is under construction this is being held off site and is held at at The Belvedere Hotel. Oxley Ave (entrance). Woody Point at 6.45pm. All members welcome to attend.

- NEW and OLD JERSEYS FOR 2012.. As we have already listed the new jerseys will be supplied to all teams this year with the old jerseys offered for sale for $10.00 to returning players in 2012. This will be done when we are operating from the new clubrooms.

- NEW CLUB SHIRTS will be handed out soon. When we are operating from the new clubhouse.

- CAR PARK The car park has had a clean up over the last week but please take care as it is still not a perfect surface. ALSO REMIND YOUR CHILDREN TO WATCH FOR THE CARS COMING AND GOING FROM THE CAR PARK
