Volunteers Needed
The 2012 junior rugby union season will be here very soon and at Redcliffe Junior Rugby Union Club we are always looking for helpers. Where as all teams will probably have coaches, managers, trainers you may find they may still require field marshals for every game, Assistant referees for every game, first aid personal for all home games and field set up gangs when playing at home. Teams range in age from development squad up to open juniors (under 17).
Apply now to our club president Brian Hetherington at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and relevant coordinators will make contact as required.
Volunteer Positions Required for game day:
Field Marshal – No qualifications required, full training will be given. Maybe sit the Smart Rugby course to understand more about the game. The position is to ensure that Coaches, Managers, Supporters and Trainers are doing the right thing. Most games it just involves watching your child play. All Coaches, Managers, linesmen & trainers know the rules about where they should behave and what they are allowed to do, but sometimes just need a polite reminder. On the occasion you may need to direct crowds to out side the barrier. The game can not commence without a field marshal being appointed for the game.
First Aid - Needs a formal qualification of Apply first aid. If you are a qualified first aider, completed the course with the club or are interested in obtaining the qualification let us know. The game can not commence without a First aider being appointed for the game and the RJRUC policy is we ask each team to appoint a first aid officer. Full training offered and paid for by the RJRUC.
Lines Men/ assistant Referee - Some ages require a qualified Assistant Referee with the BJRU running many courses and we will happily place you on one. Every team needs to have at least on person to do the line from amongst the parents. Full training offered and paid for by the RJRUC.
U6 – U9 Referees - again a BJRU course required for "Refereeing Kids" on Saturday. Full training offered and paid for by the RJRUC.
Team Managers. Full training supplied and we will give you guidance, you will be able to assist the coaches and team on game day. Involves keeping score vis a team sheet, organising rosters for parents for oranges and jersey wash, collecting for end of season party. Every team needs a manager. Maybe sit on the Smart Rugby course so you can understand more about the game.
Canteen Assistance – Our canteen coordinator will create a roster and pass onto team managers when the new season starts but she will always take regular assistance from interested parents.
Setting of Fields – Again we will show you what to do and where to place the markers.
Blue Cards will be required for all volunteers and the club will apply for these F.O.C
All we ask from our members is please do not leave it to someone else to ensure your child continues to enjoy playing the game.
